Grosz Stained Glass Lamp with Face and Wood Base

The lamp stands like a small, enchanted tree brought indoors and given a quiet, watchful presence.

At the bottom is a large, round wooden base, thick and weighty, with visible grain swirling in natural rings. The edge is slightly organic rather than perfectly sharp, preserving the character of the wood. Its finish is smooth to the touch but still showcases knots, streaks, and subtle variations in tone—warm browns layered with deeper amber lines.

Rising from the center is a sculpted tree trunk, carved with textured bark that spirals upward in ridges and grooves. Embedded within the trunk is a face, emerging as if it has grown there over time. The most striking feature is the pair of marble eyes—cool, polished spheres set deep into the wood. Their smooth, pale surface contrasts beautifully with the rough bark texture, giving the face an almost lifelike intensity. They catch and reflect light, adding a faint gleam that makes the tree seem alert and aware.

The face has a long, prominent nose, carved from the same wood as the trunk, extending outward in a slightly curved, almost whimsical shape. It blends into the grain lines, as though shaped by years of wind and weather. The mouth may be subtly hinted at below, but the eyes and nose dominate the expression—giving the tree a wise, slightly eccentric personality.

At the top sits a yellow and orange stained glass lampshade, crafted from individual glass panels joined by dark leading. The colors range from soft golden yellows to deep burnt orange, arranged in a leaf-like or sunburst pattern. When the lamp is lit, the shade radiates a warm, glowing light reminiscent of a late autumn sunset. The marble eyes glint under the amber illumination, and the carved bark casts gentle shadows, making the trunk’s features appear animated.

The overall effect is both rustic and magical—a functional lamp that feels like a woodland guardian holding a small captured sunset above its head.
