The sculpture takes the form of an infinity knot, its looping paths coiled from long, slender pine needles that have been carefully gathered and shaped. The needles range in color from pale gold to deep, resinous brown, creating a natural gradient that shifts along the curves. Each coil is tightly stitched, giving the structure both flexibility and strength, while preserving a slightly textured surface that reveals the rhythm of the handwork.
The knot flows in a continuous, unbroken line—two looping arcs that weave over and under each other, forming a balanced, symmetrical figure. Despite its solidity, there’s a sense of movement in the way the coils bend and intersect, as if the form could keep folding into itself. The gentle irregularities of the natural material soften the geometry, making the knot feel alive rather than rigid.
Woven into the surface are tiny stones, each one nestled between stitches and secured along the curves. They vary slightly in size and tone—muted grays, warm earth hues, and the occasional speckled surface—adding subtle weight and visual texture. Some stones sit flush against the coils, while others protrude just enough to catch light, creating small highlights that contrast with the matte pine needles.
As the eye follows the looping path, the stones appear and disappear along the curves, emphasizing the continuity of the form. The interplay between the organic fibers and the grounded solidity of the stones gives the piece a tactile richness. Altogether, the sculpture feels both enduring and meditative—a natural material shaped into a timeless symbol, quietly embellished with elements drawn from the earth itself.
